Fans are counting the days, hours and seconds before they can delve back into the new adventures of Lara Croft! And the champagne is flowing at Eidos Montréal, which produced Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the latest release from this blockbuster video game series. We’ll finally find out how Lara Croft became Tomb Raider.
Eidos Montréal also appears in the credits for the trailer of the highly secret Avengers Project. Want a hint? Try #Reassemble. There’s no doubt the super heroes will be roaming the streets of the city (and in the minds of its creators).
According to our spies, there is another upcoming video game that would appeal to families coming out of the Montréal offices of Reel FX. The game will feature a certain four-legged ghost hunter who is also a big glutton and Shaggy’s best friend. You probably figured out we mean Scooby-Doo.
Montréal is the video game capital
With more than 230 studios, Greater Montréal, nicknamed the “Hollywood of video games,” is the fifth largest video game hub in the world, behind Tokyo, London, San Francisco and Austin. Global leaders Ubisoft, Warner Bros Games, Electronic Arts and Gameloft work alongside local and dynamic studios such as Ludia or Sarbakan.
The new Tomb Raider and Scooby-Doo games will quickly join the ranks of “Made in Montréal” hits that already include Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Deus Ex, Far Cry 5, The Darwin Project, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Hitman Sniper.
